Practise the interview, not just the answer
Use a mock interview to practise clarifying a problem, working through a solution and explaining your decisions. This guide helps you prepare for a session and turn feedback into a useful next step.
Explore mock-interview plans →Start with one concrete objective
“Get better at interviews” is difficult to evaluate. Choose an observable goal instead: explain a join without multiplying revenue, structure a revenue investigation, or describe your contribution to a project in two minutes.
Bring a job description, a short summary of your experience and one area where you want feedback. Remove confidential employer or customer information from any examples you share.
Before the session
- Choose a round and agree the scope and duration.
- Confirm the time zone and any required editor or meeting link.
- Identify the SQL dialect or specific tool you want to practise.
- Prepare one question you want the feedback to answer.
During the session
- Clarify the required output and state assumptions.
- Explain your approach before writing code or calculating.
- Test an edge case and describe any uncertainty.
- Finish with a concise answer and a next step.
Choose the round that matches your gap
SQL and Python
Practise data grain, joins, missing values, aggregation and validation. Explain why a result is correct, including empty inputs, duplicate keys and ties.
Try the SQL practice questions →Statistics and a specific tool
Explain uncertainty, experiment design and measurement choices. For a tool round, name the tool in advance so the exercise matches your needs.
Review experiment fundamentals →Business cases and problem solving
Define the decision, choose a metric, break the problem into testable parts and propose an investigation. Distinguish observations from explanations you have not yet tested.
Work through a business case →HR, behavioural and culture fit
Use examples from your own work or studies. State your role, the choices you made, the outcome you can support and what you learned.
Structure a behavioural answer →A self-practice exercise you can do today
Set aside 30 minutes. This is a suggested practice routine, not the advertised duration of a paid session.
- 5 minutes: explain a project and the decision it supported.
- 10 minutes: solve one SQL or Python question while speaking aloud.
- 10 minutes: investigate a hypothetical 15% revenue decline. Ask clarifying questions before suggesting causes.
- 5 minutes: review where your explanation became unclear and choose one thing to repeat.
Use feedback you can act on
A useful review identifies an observed behaviour and a specific change. For example: “You joined orders to order items before checking the grain. Next time, state the expected rows per order and compare row counts before and after the join.”
Technical review
- Was the solution correct for the stated assumptions?
- Were joins, missing values and ties handled?
- Was the validation strong enough to catch a plausible error?
Communication review
- Was the problem clearly restated?
- Could another person follow the reasoning?
- Did the conclusion answer the original question?
Common questions
How many mock interviews should I choose?
Start with the gap you want to test and the time you have to practise between sessions. One session may identify a problem; follow-up practice lets you check whether your approach changed. No number of sessions guarantees interview readiness or a job.
Are these questions taken from named employers?
No verified employer question bank is claimed. Exercises are interview-style practice, and actual interview formats differ by employer and role.
Can I participate in another language?
The website can be translated for reading, but all interview preparation, mock sessions and feedback are provided in English.
Where are prices and cancellation rules?
The interview preparation page contains the current plans and custom round calculator. See the refund and cancellation policy before purchase. Bookings are currently inactive.
